Chateau Batailley sits within Pauillac which is perhaps the most famous of the Bordeaux sub-regions. Rates as a fifth growth on the 1855 classification, it makes wines that punch well above its price and the 1985 is no exception.
The vintage itself is described as charming, balanced and defining of Bordeaux’s finesse. It’s one of better vintages of the 1900s but not widely recognised due to its placement between the stellar wines from 1982 and 1989.
